Deep Hole Drilling
Services from UNISIG
The nature of building deep hole drilling machines requires many technical professionals work together to design and manufacture world class equipment.
We provide critical functions that may not be practical for
you to have in-house and services that aim to extend your capacity.
Training
UNISIG machines are easy to use, but proper training goes a long way to ensure the highest productivity and safety. New machine purchases include factory training with the machine under power, drilling sample workpieces using customer or UNISIG supplied tooling.
Training often goes beyond the machine. A typical
training session will also cover the application of
drilling tools based on material condition and target
tolerances, setup strategies for the highest productivity,
process troubleshooting to demonstrate control features,
and practical guidance for care
and maintenance the machine and accessories.
Additional on-site training after a machine installation is also recommended. Refresher training or new employee orientation can increase the value of a UNISIG machine to your bottom line.
Maintenance
UNISIG machines are engineered and built to withstand
the tough environments that are a reality in
most production shops. Sensors monitor critical lubrication
cycles, operating temperatures and filter
condition and will protect the machine from serious
damage. Control systems also monitor overload
conditions and provide descriptive fault messages to
direct maintenance personnel to the problem area
immediately.
The goal of maintenance is not only to stop damage to machinery, but to provide an opportunity for the greatest machine uptime and performance. UNISIG provides preventative maintenance guidelines and service recommendations that can be handled by our customers.
We also offer maintenance services to perform these activities on an as-needed basis or a repeating schedule. It has also proven beneficial to combine additional training of maintenance staff with periodic maintenance services by UNISIG technicians.
Prototype Drilling and Testing
UNISIG maintains a prototype drilling department for internal testing and development. We do not pursue job-shop drilling as a primary source of revenue, but our customers will frequently ask us to debug a process or develop tooling for their use.
Combining engineering and testing in a controlled
environment can reduce the ramp up cycle time for
production or give confidence to bid a new opportunity
more aggressively.
Turn-Key Projects
Turn-key and collaboration projects are highly successful as UNISIG offers a complete deep hole drilling system – machines, tools and automation. Our experience with complex design, control systems, and specialized equipment manufacturing gives us a significant edge over competition only willing to provide a standard solution.

Project Management
Our project managers work with customers to determine unique installation requirements, develop foundation plans and coordinate the project runoff and acceptance. Scheduling of machine build phases, customer required activities and final training.
Design Engineering
UNISIG mechanical engineers use the latest in 3D parametric modeling software and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software to develop new products and continue refining proven designs. Our control engineers use state-of-the-art motion control hardware and software tools to make a strong machine operate reliably through very challenging dynamic requirements.
These engineering capabilities are also available for special versions of a UNISIG product. Many of our deep hole drilling systems customers who have other manufacturing technology needs lean on us for critical projects.
Component Manufacturing
Skilled machinists use engineering's 3D CAD data to generate tool paths on our CNC machines, so economically producing specialized components of significant dimension and complexity is possible. Our in-house machine shop can produce individual parts weighing up to 32 tons, as well as high speed smaller component manufacturing on CNC turning and milling machines.
Machine Remanufacturing
Remanufacturing machines can provide a lower cost alternative to a new machine purchase. Common in larger machines, the basic machine structure, feed systems and spindles may still be adequate for continued use. UNISIG can remanufacture machinery to original geometric accuracy specifications and provide new control and fluid power technologies to increase performance. Factory warranty, training, installation services are available.
We are committed to continuously improving our business through investment, the use of technology and promoting a highly trained workforce. We value close relationships with our customers and welcome opportunities to discuss how our combination capabilities and services can provide the greatest value.
