AMB Stuttgart Show Successful

UNISIG and UNISIG GmbH exhibited at the AMB show in Stuttgart, Germany to a growing market of German manufacturing. The presence at the show is preceded by recent equipment sales in the European region.
The booth highlighted expansive capabilities of UNISIG and its engineering team, as well as standardized products and express delivery machines.
UNISIG Leaves Impact at IMTS 2012

UNISIG returned from a successful IMTS trade show in Chicago, IL. The booth showcased both a machine and complete tooling, including drill tubes on an adjustable rack, and tool heads from several major manufacturers. This was the first time the complete system has been displayed outside of UNISIG's facility.
The booth attracted hundreds of attendees, who came to see the machine under power and learn more about the advantages of deep hole drilling. The UNISIG B380 machine on display garnered much attention and was sold during the show.
IMTS 2012 hosted over 100,000 visitors from several countries. The show is held every two hears.
Cylinder Finishing Capabilities featured in MMS

The strict roundess and surface-finish tolerances required by hydraulic cylinder manufacturers can be achieved on UNISIG's new S-Series line of machines. This series, optimized for the skiving and roller burnishing process used on cylinders, is featured in Modern Machine Shop's August 2012 issue.
The article explains the skiving and burnishing process and its relationship with machinery for superior surface finish. It also details the features that allow for highly effective skiving and burnishing, such as power train, rotary union, and workholding details.

UNISIG Summer Company Party a Success

UNISIG hosted all employees and their families at our summer company party. The event was held at a local archery range, and all enjoyed open shooting, food, drinks, and an array of raffle prizes provided by both our generous vendors and our parent company.
Raffle prizes included Cabela's gift cards, camping and sporting gear, and a flat screen TV.

UNISIG and Sandvik Coromant co-hosted a Deep Hole Machining seminar at our facility in Menomonee Falls, WI. The event included tech presentations on deep hole drilling and machining, tooling, setup, troubleshooting, and more. The seminar included a drilling demonstration on the UNISIG B500 with BTA drilling, counterboring, and a tooling changeover.
Participants found the presentation and demonstration informative, and additional events are tentatively scheduled for the future.

Deep Hole Drilling for Oil Field Parts Feature

UNISIG CEO Anthony Fettig contributed to a feature in Manufacturing Engineering magazine about the future of the oil & gas and fracking industries in the US, and the importance of being able to handle the drilling of exotic materials accurately the first time.
Improved technology, such as a histogram interface, showing data such as spindle and thrust loads over time, contribute to an improved process and help operators correct anomalies right away. January/February 2012
Asia Pacific Metalworking Equipment News featured a technical article from UNISIG on gun drilling in their January/February 2012 edition. The gun drilling process is capable of accurate hole drilling at extreme depth-to-diameter ratios. The article provides an in-depth explanation of the advantages and applications for gun drilling, as well as an overview of tools and equipment. Gun drilling machines are being added to shops and factories globally, because of their ability to quickly gain new drilling business, and produce accurate pieces with less work.

UNISIG Returns from Successful EMO Show

UNISIG's presence at the EMO Hannover show in Germany was highly successful, as we begin to expand our European deep hole drilling market presence. UNISIG focused on overall company capabilities, including deep hole drilling at extreme diameters and advancing technology and automation.
EMO is the largest manufacturing trade show in the world, and features 16 different halls with various categories of manufacturing. The next EMO Expo will be in 2013.

Pull Boring Feature Highlights UNISIG Capabilities

Modern Machine Shop highlights the advanced technology required for superior deep hole drilling. Sarang Garud, Engineer, discusses this highly effective method for drilling remarkably straight holes. Pull-boring uses a special tool which is pulled back through an existing bore, a technique capable of drift tolerances less than 0.001 inch per foot. UNISIG offers several machines with specific configurations for successful pull-boring.
